Honest limits: everything runs on your own device and nothing is uploaded. The AI enhancer (Real-ESRGAN general x4v3) is only 5 MB, downloads once and is cached; it is fast with WebGPU and slower on phones or devices without it. Big pictures are worked on in tiles, and results are capped at 4096×4096. Video enhance uses fast filters on every frame; AI enhance per frame is offered for clips up to 10 seconds, because every frame goes through the AI.

How to get the best result from the enhancer

Pictures

Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP picture.

Try Auto light first for dark or flat photos, then adjust brightness, contrast, colour and warmth by hand if needed.

Pick an upscale size: 2x for social media, 4x for printing or for small, old pictures.

Turn on AI enhance to restore detail and remove blur and noise, then download as PNG for the best quality or JPG for a smaller file.

Videos

Choose a video and a target size (720p, 1080p or 4K). Fast filters work on any length. AI enhance on every frame is available for clips up to 10 seconds, because each frame goes through the AI model on your own device.

What the AI can and cannot fix

Works well: soft or slightly blurry photos, compression blocks from WhatsApp, noise in low light, small pictures that need to be bigger.

Works less well: heavy motion blur, faces that are only a few pixels wide, and text that is already unreadable. The AI can make these look sharper but it cannot know the missing detail.

Why is it slow on my phone? The AI runs on your own device. Computers with a graphics chip that supports WebGPU (recent Chrome or Edge) are much faster than phones.

Is my picture uploaded? No. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is sent to BolCaps.
